“I was shocked because I had heard nothing so I thought ‘Okay we’re going to at least have one Frisch’s in Dayton’, but no it’s looking like we’re not,” James Kimmerly said.

Kimmerly has been going to the Frisch’s on Colonel Glenn Highway for years. He said it’s his favorite spot.

“We grew up with Frisch’s. We always liked Frisch’s,” he said.

Now his favorite Frisch’s in Fairborn adds to a long list of locations being shut down in the Miami Valley for being more than $4.5 million behind in rent.

Dec. 11 is the last day they’ll be open and they’ve already started packing up.

“I’m from the area and grew up here in Riverside. We’ve been going to Frisch’s for years and years. I’m sorry to see them go,” Kimmerly said.

He said he was holding out hope for his location, but saw the news about the closure while eating there.

He came back again the next day for a very special reason.

“My dad, he passed away recently, but he loved the salad bar and would come in and he’d get a salad,” Kimmerly said.

Another Frisch’s location will also clothes this week on North Barron Street in Eaton.
