BUTLER TWP., Montgomery County — A South African man believed to be responsible for four shooting deaths was indicted today after prosecutors say he lured a homicide victim to Butler Twp. before taking him into the woods to kill him over a decade ago.
Muziwokuthula S. Madonda, 44, faces two counts of aggravated murder, four counts of murder, two counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of felonious assault for the shooting death of Zenzele D. Mdadane, 25, of South Africa.

Investigators said Madonda shot and killed bank executive Jaquelyn Hilder in Akron during a robbery prior to luring Mdadane to Butler Twp. in February 2011.
Mdadane was shot and killed in the 10100 block of Frederick Pike on Feb. 19.
“When the victim arrived in Dayton, the defendant drove him to a wooded area in Butler Township and fatally shot him,” the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office said. “The defendant took the victim’s belongings and fled to New Mexico.”

Several weeks later on Mar. 20, 2011 Madonda shot and killed two men inside a hotel room in Tucumcari, New Mexico and then fled to Texas.
“Texas Rangers located the defendant in a motel room that was registered in his name and arrested him,” prosecutors said. “Inside Defendant’s vehicle, investigators found a .38 caliber revolver that was used in all four homicides.”
Madonda arrived in the U.S. in 2008 to study theology at a Georgia seminary, where he confessed to “clear his conscience,” police told News Center 7 in 2011 after the Butler Twp. killing.
Madonda was convicted of second-degree murder for the two New Mexico murders and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Prosecutors said the delay in prosecuting him in Montgomery County is due to the length of time the other prosecutions have taken for the New Mexico killings and the ongoing prosecution in Akron.
Once the Akron case is completed, Madonda will be sent to Montgomery County to face the charges here.
