Springfield Police Department investigating after man found in roadway dies

SPRINGFIELD — A sergeant with SPD told News Center 7 that crews were dispatched to a man found injured in the street Saturday just before 10 p.m.

The man later died from his injuries, according to Springfield Police dispatch.

Crews found the man in the area of Linden Avenue and East Grand Avenue.

SPD said they are investigating if the man could have been hit by a car, and their traffic unit has been dispatched to the scene.

Video from the scene shows police have sectioned off most of the road to conduct their investigation.

The incident remains under investigation.
