Springfield woman arrested, charged in shooting her husband

SPRINGFIELD — A Springfield woman accused of shooting her husband had been criminally charged in the incident, according to Clark Couty Municipal court records.

Joy McCauley, 30, of Springfield, was charged with attempted murder and felonious assault Monday.

On March 8, Springfield Police Division was called to the 500 block of Mead Lane on a report of a man shot at 3:50 a.m. When officers arrived, a man was found with a gunshot wound to the side of his head, according to court documents.

The man was initially transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center, then flown to Miami Valley Hospital, and later released. The man told detectives that he and his wife got into an argument, and during it, she shot him with a handgun.

During a search of the home, investigators located the handgun and several spent shell cases.

McCauley appeared in court Monday and pleaded not guilty to the charges. A judge set her bond at $250,000, and she is currently booked in the Clark County Jail. Her next court date was not immediately known.
