Woman killed in crash involving semi on I-75 identified

MIAMI COUNTY — UPDATE @ 4 p.m.:

One person is dead after a crash involving a semitrailer in Miami County early Thursday morning.

Around 6 a.m. Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers were called to northbound Interstate 75 in Monroe Township to reports of a three-car deadly crash, according to a media release.

An initial investigation found that a semitrailer operated by Christopher Barker, 26, of Lebanon, Ohio traveled off the left roadside and hit a concrete media barrier.

The semitrailer began to slow while occupying part of the left lane and berm.

Part of the trailer was hit by a Dodge Charger driven by Sandra Willis, 42, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

As a result of this Willis’ car was pushed across the northbound lanes of traffic and hit in the right lane by a Chevrolet Equinox.

Willis was thrown from their car as they were not wearing a safety belt.

The Equinox then traveled off the right side of the road, traveled through the right-of-way fence, and hit a tree.

Willis was taken to Upper Valley Medical Center where they were pronounced dead.

The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It was not included in the media release if Barker was injured.

The crash remains under investigation by Ohio State Highway Patrol.
