Storm survey confirms 7th tornado from Saturday’s outbreak touched hit Preble County

PREBLE COUNTY — The National Weather Service has confirmed an additional tornado touched down in the Miami Valley early Saturday.

According to NWS, an EF0 tornado touched down near New Paris in Preble County.

The first sign of tornadic damage appeared near the intersection of Hawley Mills Road and New Paris Twins Road, where uprooted trees and a significant loss of roof panels from a barn occurred, the NWS said.

Near the intersection of New Paris Twins Road and Rawley Road, multiple barns had loss of metal roof panels, with one barn showing more extensive damage with some bent and collapsed barn doors.

A home also displayed some paneling damage on the back side of the building, the NWS said.

NWS says the final damage noted from this tornado happened off Gettysburg Darke Rd., with significant loss of a barn roof and pieces of the sheet metal tossed into the yard and nearby trees.

The tornado is believed to have dissipated shortly after.

The estimated start time was 12:47 a.m. with an end time of 12:49 a.m.

The tornado had an estimated maximum wind speed of 85 mph.

There were no fatalities or injuries, according to NWS.
