TROTWOOD — A local business manager saw the crash and shooting that sent a Trotwood officer and suspect to the hospital Monday morning. She got to work later in the day and realized it started right next door.
Cheryl Wysong said she rolled up on “a sea” of law enforcement cruisers while taking her daughter to Wright State University on Monday morning.

“I started to slow down because I said to myself, ‘We’re not getting through whatever is going on out there. We’re going to have to probably turn around – I don’t know, we may have to sit on the highway,’” Cheryl Wysong said.
That’s when, all of a sudden, the crash happened.
“Boom! A crash. I’m not sure the vehicle, but you could hear it and you could see it, and it was smoke everywhere,” Wysong recalled.
As we showed you on News Center 7 at 6:00, she told News Center 7′s John Bedell what she heard just moments after the impact.
“People talk about ‘pop, pop, pop, pop, pop’ noise. They’re shooting,” she said.
Eventually, she ended up at work at New Lebanon Self Storage, which is right next door to Voyager Village. That’s the mobile home park where this all started with a pedestrian crash on Monday morning.

Upon arrival, crews located a female victim who had been hit by the suspect’s truck.
While crews were rendering aid to the victim, police said the suspect drove past police at a high rate of speed and pointed a “long weapon” at them.
A chase ensued from there and ended when the truck hit both a Trotwood Police cruiser and a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office vehicle head-on on US 35.
Wysong said it was ‘strange to hear’ that the incident she witnessed all started right by her work.
“I’ve worked here a long time and the owners have owned this place (for a long time) and you never hear hardly anything that goes on back there,” she said.
Police said they expect the woman hit at Voyager Village to be OK.
