Strong storms cause damage across the Miami Valley Sunday

MIAMI VALLEY — A line of strong storms caused trees and powerlines to be downed across the region Sunday evening.

By 6 p.m. most of the Miami Valley was under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning as high winds up to 65 miles per hour hit the area.

US-127 near West Consolidated Road in Preble County was blocked as large branches fell into the roadway.

Multiple roads were blocked by trees downed in Eaton, Gratis and Camden.

Parts of a large barn blew into the roadway on State Route 122 near Gratis, taking a powerline with it. No injuries were reported, according to law enforcement on the scene.

The Ohio Department of Transportation was called to the scene to help clean up.

Around 6-6:30 p.m. fire departments were called to multiple reports of trees down across neighborhoods in Montgomery County including in areas like Potomac Drive, Gasper Road, Pleasant Plain Road and Bradford Street.

Powerlines were also downed by strong winds in Englewood and Kettering, causing thousands in the area to be without power.

No injuries have been reported so far as a result of the damage.
