UPDATE @ 4 p.m. (Oct. 23)

UPDATE @ 9:50 p.m.: A UD student suffered serious injuries, not believed to be life threatening, when he was hit by a Dayton fire truck on Brown Street.

The 18-year-old’s name was not released, but a University of Dayton spokesman confirms the victim is a student.

The student has been taken to Miami Valley Hospital. Brown Street has been reopened to traffic.

Dayton police said the collision happened while the student was in the bike lane and the fire engine was attempting to turn into the UDF parking lot.

UPDATE @ 7:55 p.m.

It appears the male was hit by a Dayton fire truck because the bicycle is underneath the truck’s tire. The bike is not one of those made available to residents through Link, the bike sharing program for Dayton.
