DAYTON — A new video circulating social media shows an adult slamming a student to the ground at a Dayton middle school as dozens of other students watch.

Multiple people sent News Center 7 the video over the weekend claiming the adult in the video is the principal of Wogaman Middle School. We are working to confirm who the two people are in the clip, which is approximately five seconds long.

Dayton Public Schools said they are aware of the presence of the video and are investigating.

“The District is aware of the video and has taken appropriate steps to address the matter. Per DPS policy, the district cannot comment on personnel issues,” Dayton Public Schools Superintendent Elizabeth Lolli said in a statement.

A woman who recently graduated from Dayton Public Schools reacted with surprise while watching the video.

“I mean he was supposed to be the principal, right? He’s the one that is supposed to protect us, instead of hurting us,” Maria Leon told News Center 7.

Leon also wondered about what wasn’t shown in the video and what might have led up to the violent throw down.

News Center 7 reached out to Dayton police to see if anyone filed a complaint with them about the video.

We will continue updating this video as new details become available.
