DAYTON — A woman charged in the shooting death of a Dayton man found wrapped in plastic told family and friends she shot victim but that he ran off, according to Dayton Municipal Court documents.

Jazzmon Brooks, 36, is facing 20 charges, including murder, aggravated murder, tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpse, in the death of Timothy Truesdale.
Brooks reportedly told her mother and friends that she shot Truesdale, but that he ran away and she didn’t know where he was.
Brooks was taken into custody at her aunt’s Oaklawn Avenue home. She was booked on a felony probation violation and refused to answer questions about Truesdale’s death, according to court documents.

During jail phone calls, Brooks reportedly made multiple comments that indicated she shot Truesdale.
Truesdale’s body was found Sept. 22 in a Hunter Avenue apartment bathroom. When officers arrived on the scene, they could smell the body decomposing, according to court documents.
A 911 caller who reported Truesdale’s death said she just learned about the shooting from a friend and that it happened a week ago.

The caller said a woman shot him in fear for her life.
Brooks waived a preliminary hearing in the Dayton Municipal Court on Tuesday and the case was referred to a grand jury.
