Suspected drug deal leads to chase; deputy being hit by fleeing car

CLARK COUNTY — A man and woman are in custody after leading police on a chase that involved a deputy being hit by a vehicle, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s office drug detectives witnessed a suspected drug transaction in the parking lot of the Big Lots on the corner of Limestone Street and Leffel Lane around 1:15 p.m.

As deputies tried to stop a vehicle involved in the incident, the driver drove off, hitting a deputy in the process, according to investigators.

The deputy was checked out for possible injuries, but was OK.

The chase continued until the driver and a passenger ditched the car in the 2000 block of Sturgeon Street.  Two people, a man and woman, got out of the car and tried to run off, but were captured by deputies.

The names of the two arrested were not immediately available.
