Suspected meth house discovered in Piqua; 4 of 12 people arrested still in jail

UPDATE @ 10:40 p.m.: In the Miami County Jail, arrested during the take down of the suspected meth lab in the house on High Street, are:

Daniel Lee Sampson, 35, on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, drug trafficking and drug possession

Jamie Arnold, age unknown, on charges of possession and possession of drug abuse instruments

Gary Lee. Sullenberger Jr., 34, on a charge of possession

Kelsea Lynn Noble, 24, arrested on an outstanding warrant. The charges against her are misdemeanors.

According to online jail records, Arnold is the only one not in jail tonight.

INITIAL REPORT

Three people have been arrested from a suspected meth lab in a house in the 400 block of High Street that has now been condemned, Piqua Police Deputy Chief Marty Grove said.

The Piqua-Sidney Tactical Response Team went to the address about 8:45 a.m. to serve a drug search warrant, which was based on complaints about the address and undercover surveillance, Grove said.

Once inside the house, the team found 12 people and arrested three of them based on their observations of what they saw -- suspected chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine, he said.

"We were expecting quite a few people," the deputy chief said. "We were not expecting 12 people. It was way too many people for the house."

Grove said it looked like a hoarding type situation, where there was barely anywhere to sit or sleep.

The Piqua health department has condemned the house, he said.

An agent with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification was sent to the scene to help firefighters and other law enforcement agents on scene, dressed in white jumpsuits and filter masks, identify the chemicals and remove them for further analysis.

Grove said all of the charges are drug-related ones -- for trafficking, possession and paraphernalia -- and more charges are pending.
