Police were called to a report of a suspicious truck parked near the Get Air in the 6000 block of Chambersburg Road but did not find anything.
About four hours later, around 4:30 a.m., police were called back out to the Chase Bank located near the first business they responded to.
Police found that a truck had rammed an ATM and threw chains around it, according to Lieutenant Brian Carr with Huber Heights police . The suspects were able to pull the ATM from the base and drove off with it, but only made it around 500 feet before ditching the ATM and the truck.
“[Officers] went over to that truck, they made sure nobody was still in it and they began looking for the suspects,” Carr said.
Police were able to recover the truck and ATM, but not the suspects.
Carr said they believe the two suspects they are looking for stole the truck from a hotel in Miami Township.
Miami Township police said it was stolen from the InTown Suites on Kingsridge Drive and that they are looking through security video to try and identify the two.
Huber Heights police are also working on uncovering some of the security footage from the bank to see if it can help them solve this crime.
“We’ve talked to Chase Bank security as well as their monitoring system to obtain whatever surveillance video they have on file. Plus, our detectives will be able to access the hard drive that’s in the internal memory bank of the ATM,” Carr said.
The internal safe was still in tact and it appeared that no money was taken.
No arrests have been made at the time of this reporting.
