An standoff on Lexington Avenue involves the 17-year-old police believe shot another 17-year-old on Kumler Avenue Wednesday, which then led detectives to a porch where an officer-involved shooting happened, Dayton’s Assistant Police Chief Matt Carper said.
UPDATE @ 3 p.m.:
An hours-long SWAT standoff continues at a home in the 200 block of Lexington Avenue in Dayton about a block away from the location of an officer-involved shooting yesterday.
Officers are using a bullhorn and are demanding a person they believe is inside the house to come out and surrender.

On Wednesday, two Dayton police detectives shot a person in the 100 block of Lexington Avenue who they said raised a gun at them and refused to drop it, Dayton Assistant Police Chief Matt Carper previously said.

It was not known if the police investigation Thursday is related to either the police-involved shooting Wednesday, or the previous shooting of a 17-year-old just blocks away in the area of Catalpa Drive, Yale Avenue, and Kumler Avenue, or another crime.
Dayton police are set to hold a news conference at 4 p.m. with an update on the officer-involved shooting and the other shooting of the juvenile.

FIRST REPORT:
About a dozen police cruisers and some Dayton SWAT members have been called to Lexington Avenue in the area of Wednesday’s police shooting, according to initial dispatch reports.
Officers were in the area searching for a wanted person around 11:40 a.m., when some SWAT members were asked to come to the area to assist.
Crime scene tape is blocking a portion of the road in the area.
