DAYTON — Starting today, a two-day OVI checkpoint will be operated by the Montgomery County Combined Agency OVI Task Force in Dayton.
The task force and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office will operate the sobriety checkpoint to deter and apprehend impaired drivers, a sheriff’s office spokesperson said in a media release.

The checkpoints will take place tonight between 6:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. in the areas N. James H. McGee Boulevard., N. Gettysburg Avenue and the intersections of S. Keowee Street and E. Fifth Street.
The checkpoints will be conducted by the Dayton Police Department and members of the combined Agency OVI Task Force of Montgomery County, the spokesperson said.
The task force checkpoint is one of multiple increased patrols and enforcement across the region during St. Patrick’s Day.
The majority of the deadliest crashes happen at the beginning and throughout holiday weekends, according to a spokesperson.
