UPDATE: Task force release results of OVI checkpoint in Dayton Thursday

DAYTON — The Combine Agency OVI Task force operated sobriety checkpoints in Dayton Thursday night, according to a news release.

The checkpoint was held from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., in the area of East Third Street at Terry Street, followed by South Keowee Street at East Fifth Street, a spokesperson for the City of Dayton said in a release.

At the first location on E. Third St., 232 vehicles went through the checkpoint.

According to the police department, 34 divers were diverted, and 13 were found to have no driver’s licenses.

Eight people were found to be driving under suspensions and two children were found to be not wearing seatbelts.

At the second location, 254 vehicles were through the checkpoint on S. Keowee St.

17 drivers were diverted and eight were found to be driving without a license. Eight people were found to be driving under suspension.

One child was found to be not wearing a seatbelt.

State law requires OVI checkpoint times and locations to be announced in advance.

Operational support for the checkpoint will be provided by law enforcement officers of the Combined Agency OVI Task Force of Montgomery County, including the Dayton Police Department.
