GERMAN TWP. — A 16-year-old charged in connection to an April crash that killed four people in German Twp. will spend the next four years at the Ohio Department of Youth Services.

In September, the teen pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and four other charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
Killed in the crash were 23-month-old Andrew Johnson Jr. and his mother, Ashley Mance, 26 in one vehicle. Katie Roberts, 31 and her mother Rebecca Roberts, 61, were in a second vehicle involved in the crash and were also killed.
The teen tried to pass Mance, but both the teen and Mance were driving at excessive speeds, according to court records.
The teen pulled back into the correct lane, but Mance lost control at that point and crossed the center line, into the path of vehicle driven by one of the Roberts.

The teen was ordered to pay $3,000, the maximum restitution allowed in juvenile court.
In addition, his license has been suspended for six years.
The teen told the court he is “extremely sorry,” apologized to victims’ families and said if he had it to do over again he would make a different and better choice. He says what happened was not what he intended.
