FAIRBORN — A tense standoff on Archer Drive impacted several residents in the area of the crime scene, leading some to even evacuate their homes during the overnight hours.

A Fairborn police officer was hit in the arm with gunfire as he approached the house in the 200 block around midnight.  Investigators originally responded to the area on a report of a shooting around 10:30 p.m.

Sgt. Bill Titley was taken to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment. He has been released and is recovering.

Three neighbors told News Center 7’s John Bedell they received calls from police and deputies alerting them of the situation and to go to their basements for shelter, because of the gunfire.

A man living next to the suspect’s house actually let the SWAT team inside his home, so the officers could get a better view of the house.  That family ended up having to evacuate the house for their safety.

Another neighbor told News Center 7 he thinks he heard the gunshot that wounded a Fairborn officer.

"I heard a pop. And figured it was probably downstairs or something. I didn't even worry about it until I got outside and saw there was one car here, one car there,” said Barry Kander said.

Jail records show Luke Easterday, 18, lives at the house where the standoff happened and was arrested when the standoff ended.

He was charged with attempted aggravated murder and felonious assault.

A judge set his bail at $750,000.
