Dayton police told News Center 7 that two minors were fighting at the time of the initial call.

One teenager was pepper sprayed because they didn’t want to cooperate, according to police.

News Center 7 crews were inside the library when the second fight broke out around 4 p.m.

Police said two adults were fighting a 15-year-old on the second floor of the library.

The adults were reportedly arrested and the teen cooperated with officers, according to police on scene.

It is unclear if anyone was injured in either fight.

Dayton Metro Library staff shut down the library shortly after. It reopened to the public around 5 p.m.

“The Library exists to be open and safe for all. Steps and actions moving forward are with the goal of keeping the Library safe and open,” a Dayton Metro Library spokesperson said.

News Center 7 has previously reported on similar violence at the Dayton Metro Library Southeast branch.

Library officials decided to shut down this branch during the afterschool hours in October.

John Childers, a Dayton resident, said these fights between teenagers need to stop.

“I don’t know what consequences mean for them, till it’s real serious. They don’t get penalized,” Childers said.

News Center 7 has reached out to the Dayton Police Department and Dayton Metro Library officials for more information.
