LOGAN COUNTY — People’s lives changed forever Thursday night after twisters ripped through multiple parts of the Miami Valley.

As reported on News Center 7 at 11, at least four tornadoes touched down in the Miami Valley last night.

The strongest was an EF-3 in Logan County that killed three people.

“I thought I was gonna meet Jesus,” Andy Davis said.

Davis was at his parents’ home when the tornado came through.

“I was under a queen-sized mattress on Seminole Island in my living room,” he said.

But as a registered nurse, once he was alright he knew he had to help.

“We’re going to need donations, for months or years not weeks,” Davis said.

So did Pedro Martinez and Jonathan Fuentes.

They brought their taco truck to Indian Lake from Sidney.

They handed out free tacos until they ran out.

In Darke County, it’s hard to find a place that wasn’t affected by storms.

“I spoke to the citizens of Darke County as I traveled through the damaged areas and I would speak with them and the common theme that I kept hearing was although they are suffering the loss of property, everybody kept telling me the same thing, which is they were thankful for their life being spared that they had no serious injuries and that they survived the storm.,” Darke County Sheriff Darke Whittaker said.

For those in need in Logan County Indian Lake High School will open as an emergency shelter Friday night, then open for people to pick up donated items at 7 a.m. Saturday.
