UPDATE: Lockdowns lifted at Middletown, Lakota schools after threat investigation

MIDDLETOWN — UPDATE @ 12:50 p.m.: 

Lockdowns at all Middletown City Schools have been lifted after police were called to investigate a threat of violence Wednesday, according to a social media post from the district.

School will be dismissed as normal at all schools after police gave an all clear around 12:30 p.m.

A lockdown was also issued at Lakota East High School in West Chester while police investigated a possible connection to the threat in Middletown. A message posted to the Lakota Local Schools' website indicated the connection was determined to be unfounded and the lockdown was also lifted Wednesday afternoon.

FIRST REPORT:

A “threat of violence” reported Wednesday morning has forced lockdowns at all Middletown City Schools, according to a post from the school district.

The district sent an initial social media post around 10 a.m. that Middletown High School, Middle School and Wildwood Elementary were on lockdown due to the threat investigation. A soft lockdown was later placed for all schools, K-12.

As of 11:40 a.m., the lockdown remains in effect for all schools, based on the recommendation from Middletown police. Lunch has been brought to all students in their classrooms, officials said.
