LOGAN COUNTY — Dozens of train cars derailed in Logan County on Saturday, Logan County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Joe Kopus said.

At approximately 5:15 p.m., the sheriff’s office received reports that a CSX train derailed on County Road 142 in West Mansfield.
Deputies and Bokescreek Fire Department crews reported that approximately 28 train cars carrying grain derailed.
Kopus said there are no injuries at this time.
CR-142 between State Route 47 and Township Road 123 will be closed until further notice.

A spokesperson from CSX provided the following statement:
“At approximately 5:18pm today, a CSX train carrying grain derailed 20 railcars near CR 142 North in West Mansfield, OH. There were no injuries resulting from the incident and there is no danger to the public. CSX appreciates the quick response of the local first responders. Safety is our highest priority as our teams work to recover the derailed cars and completely restore the area. The cause of the incident is under investigation.”
Information on how the train derailed was not immediately available.
