PENINSULA, Ohio — The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad train derailed during the last “North Pole Adventure” ride Saturday night, according to our CBS affiliate WOIO-19.

Three train cars jumped the tracks about halfway into the 90-minute ride and just before 9 p.m.

Peninsula police said 588 people were on board at the time of the derailment.
No one was injured, according to WOIO-19.
The train was traveling about two miles an hour at the time, police said.
The “North Pole Adventure” is a Christmas-time event offering train rides, visits with Santa and his elves, and treats.
The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad used coach buses to transport passengers back to the Rockside Station and their cars.
Some people were stuck on the train for several hours waiting for busses to arrive, according to WOIO-19.
The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
