A home in Moraine suffered extensive damage after a large tree fell on the house during Wednesday’s storms.

Joseph Burks, who owns the home in the 3900 block of South Union Road, said he returned home from work just before severe storms started to move through Montgomery County.

“I heard this big boom that shook the house, looked out the window, I [saw] stuff flying everywhere.,” Burks said. “I grabbed the dog and went to the basement. After that, came up and saw the tree on the house.”

The tree left a large hole in the roof over one of the home’s bedrooms in additional to other structural damage.

“When everything’s flying in the air, my first thought was tornado. I guess a big, strong wind just came by.”

Burks said neighbors suffered some damage in the storm as well, but nothing as significant as damage to his home.

“[I’m] just lucky I’m ok, along with my dog,” he said.
