There was also storm damage on Ballentine Pike.

One home owner told Campbell he was with wife and two of his children when the storm came through and took shelter.

“In shock, didn’t know this was going to happen,” said Jerome Thomas. “We were watching the news while it was going on, and that’s when we saw what was going to happen and we went in the bathroom and called on Jesus.”

Many people tell News Center 7 they believe they saw a tornado Monday afternoon in New Carlisle but that has not been confirmed by the National Weather Service.

Trees were down in the area of New Carlisle St. Paris Road and blocked the roadway, according to initial scanner traffic.

“We got calls from one of our units that live close that spotted a funnel cloud,” said Gary Donnelly, Pike Township Fire Chief. “We got reports from Clark County dispatch that trees down and roofs torn up and power lines down.”

Donnelly said it was important to remember when these severe weather alerts pop up, it’s important to get to your safe spot.

No injuries were reported.

The National Weather Service will decide if an actual tornado or straight-line winds did damage.

A team is expected to be out on Tuesday surveying the damage and making that determination.
