Benjamin Stoll, 29, was the passenger killed. The driver, James Benshoff Jr., 41, suffered non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to Mercy Health -- St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

According to the preliminary investigation, the G.A. Wintzer & Sons Co. vehicle described as a straight truck was headed east on Pusheta Road when it drifted off the side of the road and started down an embankment. Troopers were dispatched to the accident about 3 p.m.

Benshoff tried to correct the slide, but apparently over-corrected and sent the truck rolling until it came to rest on its top, just west of Brown Road in southeast Auglaize County. Both occupants were trapped in the wreckage.

Benshoff was not wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred, but Stoll was wearing his, according to the state patrol.

Stoll died at the scene.

Speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash and alcohol is not suspected, according to the state patrol.

At the scene, state patrol Sgt. Rodney Kiefer said the truck was hauling grease and animal remains from the Wentzer rendering company, located on County Road 25A near the accident scene. None of the contents in the truck spilled. All of it was sealed in barrels, Kiefer said.
