TROTWOOD — A prayer vigil for Nathan Hairston was held for family and friends this evening on Free Pike Avenue, where Hairston's body was found after he was struck by a car in January.
The victim of a hit-and-run, Hairston's family and the Trotwood community are still searching for answers as to what happened that night.
Hairston was 40 at the time of his death.
“Our purpose is to try and get some closure and understanding, that’s our main mission today,” said family friend Linda Parrish.

Parrish has known the family for more than 50 years, and used to ride the bus with Hairston.
Hairston was walking home from work after getting off an RTA bus when he was struck by a silver Pontiac Grand Prix.
The owner of the vehicle, Jamar Edward Hill, has not been cooperative with police. They are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts and activities from Jan.17-18 to contact the Trotwood Police Traffic Enforcement Section at 937-854-7231.
The department helped to sponsor the vigil.
“The police have been supporting us, this is so magnificent,” Parrish said. “They’ve been superb and we thank them.”
Alicia Springer, a friend of Hairston’s mother, also lost an adult child and is hopeful someone will come forward.
“I hope they’ll put themselves in the mother’s place if they have information of what happened,” said Springer. “You’ll feel better and this family and community will have closure.”
Approximately 50 to 60 people attended the vigil.
Police say the driver of the vehicle did not stop to check on Hairston or render aid.
