‘Trying to make the world a safer place,’ boys recognized by sheriff’s office

HARRISON TWP., Montgomery County — Two boys in Harrison Twp. got a surprise when sheriff’s deputies surprised them with some hot chocolate and snacks while they shoveled snow.

J’mar and Quron Blanton, ages 7 and 10, were shoveling not only the sidewalk, but part of the street as well.

J’mar told Deputy Bryan Statzer they were shoveling because they “were just trying to make the world a safer place.”

The sheriff’s office commended the boys on social media.

“We can certainly do a lot of learning from both J’mar and Quron and thank them for taking care of their community … on their day OFF from school,” a Facebook post read. “Keep up the work and keep inspiring others.”

This morning, Detective Statzer was stopped by J’mar Blanton (7 yrs old) and Quron Blanton (10 yrs old) in Dayton....
