MONTGOMERY COUNTY — The reconstruction of a portion of Interstate 75 is now going to take nearly a year longer to complete.
Crews made an “unexpected discovery” and learned that multiple areas on I-75 between Needmore Road and Leo Street have pavement that is thicker than what had been anticipated.

This will require additional, substantial work to complete the project, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.
Originally, the construction was expected to be completed by fall 2026. The new discovery will push the completion date back to at least summer 2027.
This project marks the first time this section of the roadway has been rebuilt down to the base since its original installation in the late 1950s. Decades of projects and repairs under the roadway need to be removed before constructing a new road.
As shown on News Center 7 at 6:00, drivers were frustrated with the construction and now the delay.
“Crazy, it just seems like it never is going to end,” Rico Rucker, of Huber Heights, said.
Lorenzo Harper, of Dayton, told News Center 7′s Kayla McDermott that the timeline seems “just a little bit too long.”
“Get it done,” Harper said.
