University of Dayton student killed in a bicycle accident in Trotwood Saturday

DAYTON — Jillian Parker, 21, a University of Dayton senior, died in a bicycle accident in Trotwood Saturday.

According to the Trotwood Police Department release on Monday, the accident happened at 7:06 p.m. at the intersection of Little Richmond and N. Lutheran Church Road in Trotwood when Parker’s bicycle was struck by a vehicle. Trotwood Fire Department arrived and administered fire aid but Park died at the scene.

Parker was a visual arts major from Holland, Michigan. She was also minoring in human rights studies and Spanish.

The university first informed students, staff, and faculty through email on Sunday.

“Jillian is part of an extended UD alumni family and we extend our deepest sympathy and prayers to her family, friends, professors and our campus community,” said Eric F. Spina, University of Dayton President.

“We pray for comfort and peace for each of you.”

A group gathered through Zoom today from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. to support those who mourn her loss.

The driver of the vehicle did stop and has been cooperating with the investigation.
