Sgt. Rich Taylor, with the Dayton Police Homicide Unit, said officers were called out on a suspicious circumstance call on Wayne Avenue near the East Patrol District around 6:10 a.m.

As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, an RTA supervisor called 911 and told dispatchers that one of her drivers saw a man “walking around with no shoes on and just in a T-shirt.” The man was covered in blood.

“He was trying to flag her down, but she like said she pointed him out, like trying to tell him to go to the police station,” the 911 caller said.

When police found the man, he made statements that led police to a home on the 1400 block of Holly Avenue where a man and woman were found dead.

While police would not confirm the suspect’s identity, online jail records show that 33-year-old Cortney Lowe was arrested at the scene on Holly Avenue and booked in the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of murder.

Investigators had the home blocked off with crime scene tape.

News Center 7 crews on the scene reported seeing a half dozen homicide detectives on the scene, as well as other Dayton officers.

Neighbors told News Center 7 that the apparent killing of two people was not welcomed news in the normally quiet neighborhood.

“I think it’s tragic,” Donald Hughes said. “It’s really, really sad.”
