UPDATE: Naked man arrested after hours long standoff identified, wanted on several warrants

DAYTON — A man wanted for outstanding warrants in Minnesota was arrested after about a five hour standoff with police on Superior Avenue Tuesday afternoon, according to Dayton Police.

Aaron Taylor, 35, was wanted out of Minnesota for a weapons and drug charge, according to Dayton police. He also had outstanding traffic warrants in Dayton. A Dayton police report shows Taylor may also face a felony inducing panic charge and a drug charge following the standoff.

Officers were out at the home near the intersection of Euclid Avenue around noon, where Taylor was sitting on the top of a roof without any clothes on until around 5 p.m.

When police responded to the house Taylor ran inside and a dog charged at officers who were at the scene, investigators said. Police fired a single shot at the dog and the dog was removed from the scene by the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center, where it is being treated.

Crews were assisted by mental health professionals and members of Taylor’s family, who helped get him down peacefully.

The fire department also responded with a ladder truck.

Police say Taylor voluntarily got into the fire truck and was brought to safety.

The incident prompted police to close Superior between St. Agnes and Kumler Avenues for several hours.
