Urbana man indicted for murder, gross abuse of a corpse in mother’s death

URBANA — A 29-year-old Urbana man was indicted Monday in the death of his mother.

Robert James “Jamie” Stevenson was arrested Friday at the home in the 600 block of Lionel Drive where he lived with his mother, 66-year-old Pamela Combs.

She was found deceased earlier that day when police responded to a welfare check at the home.

Stevenson was indicted for aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence, gross abuse of a corpse and aggravated menacing, according to a release from Champaign County Prosecutor Kevin S. Talebi.

Stevenson will be arraigned Tuesday in Champaign County Common Pleas Court.
