The next time you book a flight, you might want to double check how your airline treats its traveler’s luggage.
The Department of Transportation said nearly two million cases were reported in 2021.
Deborah Warner, of Greenville, said,” We were flying in Cancun, and we lost our luggage. Then we went on a cruise ship and on the way home my luggage got lost their too.”
At Dayton International Airport, in one-month Allegiant Airlines mishandled almost 1,500 bags. United Airlines mishandled 28,000 bags and Delta Airlines mishandled 47,000 bags.
Pacific Southwest Airlines, a subsidiary of American Airlines, which is based out of Dayton International Airport, mishandled 6,400 bags, while American Airlines mishandled almost 50,000 bags.
Warner believes it was American Airlines that lost her luggage.

McDermott said with so many reports of luggage being mishandled that’s why I choose to use a carry on whenever I can but while speaking with people at the airport not everyone feels the same way.
“There’s always a worry in my mind. But I try to pack anything that can be bumped around, break in the middle wrapped in clothes or something like that,” Dana Liss of Beavercreek said.
Most people News Center 7 spoke with said they would be angry if their luggage was mishandled but most have a backup plan.
Liss said, “I’d just buy new clothes.”
News Center 7 reached out to PSA Airlines to see if they had a comment on their placement on the list, but they have not returned a call.
