1 hospitalized with serious injuries after reported explosion in Dayton

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 7:09 a.m.

One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a report of an explosion, according to Lt. Jason Hall, Dayton Bomb Squad Commander and Violent Crimes Bureau Commander.

Hall said that officers originally were dispatched to the 4000 block of Hoover Avenue, and found a vehicle parked in the street with “obvious damage” and one injured person.

He said that the car had been on fire, but that passers-by got a fire extinguisher and put it out.

Police are still investigating what occurred before they arrived.

“We’re very early in the investigation,” Hall said.

UPDATE @ 6:44 a.m.:

One person was taken to the hospital after a vehicle was reported on fire in the 4000 block of Hoover Avenue at 4:35 a.m., according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch records.

Records said that the person was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, but their condition is currently unknown.

UPDATE @ 6:03 a.m.:

Our crew on the scene reported that officers have blocked the road, and cordoned off the area around the car with police tape.

Emergency crews are responding to a reported vehicle fire with possible injuries in the 4000 block of Hoover Avenue.
