Victim identified in deadly Springfield fire

SPRINGFIELD — The Clark County Coroner has officially identified the victim of the fire on Dover Road last month as 68-year-old Andrew Asebrook.

Officials suspected after the fire that the victim could’ve been the homeowner, but couldn’t say definitely.

The fire started around 2 a.m. Aug. 30. When crews arrived, the house was already 50 percent involved.

Officials said at the time that a possible hoarding situation in the home made rescue efforts difficult — furniture and other items blocked the door.

The coroner’s office is still working to identify two people killed in an Aug. 12 fire on Wiley Street in Springfield.

I grew up in Springfield and I'm a big fan of all things Springfield, including Schuler's & the Clark County Fair. A career in journalism never really was a serious thought until the end of high school. You just have epiphanies sometimes, and that's the only way I can explain why I got into this line of work – but I'm happier for it!
