VIDEO: Flames engulf pickup at Springfield gas station

SPRINGFIELD — UPDATE @ 11:55 p.m.:

A Certified gas station in Springfield was back to business Tuesday night after a pickup truck caught fire.

Dramatic video showed flames engulf a white pickup at the gas station, 1350 N. Belmont Ave. in Springfield.

It appeared in the video from an iWitness7 viewer that the truck fire was near pumps, but the Springfield Fire Division said it wasn’t near them and was actually closer to an air pump in the back corner of the station property.

Only one unit was called to the scene, which was able to quickly put out the fire.

Flames overtook a pickup truck Tuesday night near the gas pumps of a Certified gas station.

An iWitness7 viewer submitted video to News Center 7 of the truck fire at the gas station, 1350 N. Belmont Ave., in Springfield.

A battalion chief at the Springfield Fire Rescue Division said the truck fire was reported shortly before 9 p.m., and that crews were able to extinguish it quickly.

No injuries were reported, and it’s not clear what led the pickup to ignite.
