VIDEO: Police use ‘less-lethal’ rounds to take pursuit, shooting suspect into custody

RIVERSIDE — New video obtained Wednesday captured the moment police used “less-lethal” rounds to bring a man into custody following an exchange of gunfire and pursuit in Riverside Sunday.

The video, posted to Facebook, shows police surrounding a man near Burkhardt and South Garland avenues in Riverside after a pursuit ended in a crash Sunday afternoon.

The suspect, who was later identified as Adam Cottrill, 26, of Huber Heights, was shot with less-lethal rounds by police and was taken into custody, investigators said Sunday.

The type of weapons used were not specified by police.

The incident started as a report of a suspicious person with a gun at the Spinning Road Kroger.

Police said Cottrill later fled the area in a car, leading  officers on a pursuit. During the pursuit shots were exchanged between Cottrill and officers, police said.

The pursuit ended in a crash at Burkhardt and South Garland avenues and Cottrill was later taken into custody.

He remains booked in the Montgomery County Jail and is being held on a probation violation.

Charges connected to the incident are still pending.
