Investigators said a woman took a case of beer from the store and ran outside into an SUV before trying to leave.

Surveillance video from the business shows the worker confront the woman as the SUV starts to leave the parking lot.

During the confrontation in the parking lot, the worker was stabbed in his hand by a man who was inside the SUV. The worker’s injuries did not require a trip to an area hospital for treatment, according to police.

Investigators are working to identify suspects through the surveillance video that captured the incident.

Police said the incident serves as a good reminder for employees of stores that are robbed or have property stolen; do not confront the suspects.

“If you are robbed and you are the store employee, just be a very good witness,” Dayton police Sgt. Creigee S. Coleman told News Center 7. “Try to gather all the information you can. Do not try to talk to (them) because you are not sure if they have a possible weapon that might harm you.”
