Tipp City Schools 042919

A violent threat conveyed through social media that targeted Tippecanoe High School has been put down and the student accused of making the threat is being dealt with, officials with Tipp City Exempted Village Schools said Monday afternoon.

"We applaud the students who brought this to our attention and ask that students, staff, and parents continue to be vigilant and if they hear something or see something to say something," district officials said in a letter made public Monday afternoon.

According to district officials, a Tippecanoe High School student Monday afternoon reported a possible violent threat against the school.

"We immediately authenticated the claim and found a threat had been made on social media. We also learned a specific plan was made verbally in the presence of other students," district and school officials said.

Tipp City Police were notified and police were sent to the high school.

District officials said threats of this nature are against the Tipp City Schools Student Code of Conduct and carry legal consequences.

"With the assistance of Tipp City Police, the district has taken appropriate steps to address this issue, including the student's removal from school," district officials said in the letter.

We will update this developing report as warranted.
