Warrant issued for man accused of falsely claiming dog from shelter

STARK COUNTY — The Stark County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warrant for a man who fraudulently claimed a dog from the Stark County Humane Society.

Devon Williams, 25, claimed a belgian malinois as his from the humane society, according to deputies. The dog, however, already had owners.

The humane society reached out to deputies to investigate.

Deputies were able to recover the dog, who was in good health, deputies say. The dog was returned to their rightful owner and microchipped, according to deputies.

The sheriff’s office has issued a warrant for Williams on one count of falsification in a theft offence and one count of theft.

The sheriff’s office asks anyone with information about Williams should contact the Stark County Sheriff’s Office.
