“I was in line to pay my taxes, and I saw a person trying to break into my house on my Ring doorbell,” homeowner Terry Roberts told News Center 7’s Mike Campbell. “If anyone was in the house, they would have been a victim.”

“I believe that if I was home, I would be deceased,” Roberts said.

The video captured by the doorbell system shows three people, dressed in all-black clothing, with hooded sweatshirts, and masks kick in the door. One of the thieves was wearing blue gloves and displayed a handgun as the three walked into the house.

“I want the neighborhood to know three people tried to rob by house and they all had guns,” Roberts said. “(The) neighborhood needs to be extremely vigilant.”

“I am extremely happy I was paying a bill instead of in my house at this time,” Roberts said.

Roberts said some money and invoices on a table near the door were the only items taken during the break-in.

“They knew they didn’t have much time because of the alarm going off,” Roberts said.

Dayton police responded to the house to make a report and collect evidence, according to an incident report.

Police did not say if they have any suspects.
