PREBLE COUNTY — A man who stopped to help an apparent stranded driver was robbed at gunpoint in Preble County Wednesday night.

Deputies responded to Camden Sugar Valley Road around 9 p.m. after the victim reported he stopped to help a woman who appeared to be dealing with a broken down vehicle.
"I pulled over to help someone with their flashers on and they just robbed me at gunpoint," the victim said in the 911 call to dispatchers.
“It was a male that was behind me that said this is a gun. He had something touched into my back,” the victim said.
The two robbers jumped into a pickup truck and drove away, making off with around $400 that was in the victim’s wallet.
“I’ve helped so many people, I can’t believe this happened,” the victim said. “I’ve helped 100 people out here (who) broke down. I was just trying to help.”
The robbers took off in an older white Ford truck with extremely rusted wheels on state Route 732, according to the victim.
No injuries were reported.
