WATCH: Dayton police rescue puppy from trash

DAYTON — Two Dayton police officers rescued a puppy early Monday morning, and body camera footage captured the heartwarming moment.

According to a social media post from the police department, Officer Palmer and Officer Wiesman responded to a call of an animal whimpering that had been going on for a while.

Officer Palmer found the source of the noise, which was a puppy between a dumpster and trash pile. The officers took the puppy into the police cruiser to warm it up.

The police department says another officer is now serving as a foster dad to the pup.
