XENIA — The City of Xenia has issued a boil advisory after a “major water main break.”
The water main break was reported Tuesday morning in the area of East Second and South Patton Streets.
The boil advisory impacts the areas east of Columbus Street and south of Church Street, including East Market Street to East Third Street.

A city spokesperson said crews have repaired the line and installed new valves, but they had to take the water main offline overnight. That action resulted in an interruption of water services for surrounding residents.
While the boil advisory is in place, residents in the impacted area should use bottled or boiled water for drinking and to prepare and cook food. If bottled water is not available, bring water to a full boil for a minute, then allow it to cool before using it.
Water service is currently being restored. The city will provide an update when the advisory has been lifted.
