Search to resume this morning for man missing after entering water at Eastwood Lake

UPDATE@6:02 a.m. (Oct. 8):

The missing man, whose identify officials have not released, entered the water during an outdoor festival Sunday, officials said.

We have a reporter at the scene who will remain there until the search resumes this morning. We’ll let you know as soon as we learn of any new developments.

UPDATE @ 8:35 p.m.:

Water rescue operations were suspended Sunday night after searching for a man in his 50s for roughly two hours, said Dayton Fire Department District Chief Paul Raisch. The recovery effort will resume Monday morning around 8:30.

The initial investigations states the man went into the water without a life jacket, went through a rapid area, submerged and didn’t resurface, said Chief Raisch.

Fire and police crews, including WPAFB and a dive crew, searched across Eastwood lake several times, but were unsuccessful in finding the man.

UPDATE @ 7:35 p.m.:

A dive crew entered the lake to look for an adult male, and other crews are also still looking for him.

According to our crew on scene, the entrance road to Eastwood Lake is currently closed and blocked off.

FIRST REPORT:

We are hearing reports of an open water rescue at Eastwood Lake, 1401 Harshman Road.

According to initial reports, crews are searching for someone in the water. The person unaccounted for has no life jacket on.

The incident was reported around 5:45 p.m.
