UPDATE: 3 West Carrollton police officers injured in scuffle with man in store

UPDATE @ 7:55 p.m.: Three West Carrollton police officers were injured in a scuffle with a man Monday afternoon at Ele Cake Co. on East Dixie Drive, the department's public information officer said.

The officers, whose names were not released, suffered minor injuries, Public Information Officer Maureen Flaute said.

Police originally were dispatched to the 800 block of East Dixie Drive on a call for male needing medical attention. The man appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance and ran from the original location, Officer Flaute said.

The officers located him in the cake shop, 810 E. Dixie Drive.

He struggled there with the officers, who were able to restrain and take him to a hospital for assessment and treatment, Flaute said.

As of Monday night, police had not filed any criminal charges against the man and did not have him in custody on criminal charges, she said.

A West Carrollton police officer has been taken to a hospital after an apparent scuffle with someone who was being apprehended at a city business.

The incident occurred sometime after 5 p.m. at the ele Cake Co., 810 E. Dixie Drive, according to police dispatch and an officer at the scene.

The injured officer, who has not been identified by name, suffered non-life threatening injuries in the scuffle that occurred when a man ran into the cake shop in an attempt to avoid apprehension.

The man ultimately was apprehended and taken to jail on a preliminary charge of resisting arrest.
