As reported on News Center 7 at 6:00, instead of blasting huge stacks of snow onto city sidewalks during removal efforts, crews scoop the snow into center lanes and left turn lanes.

Dayton street maintenance crews will then close down streets one block at a time and use front-end loaders and dump trucks to remove the piles.
Drivers have to sit and wait while the loaders scoop the snow into the truck.
Some drivers told News Center 7 that the wait isn’t that bad.
“I’ll probably turn around, I’m trying to get some coffee or something,” Dayton resident Sam Miller said.
“I’m actually new to the area, so I’m kind of getting used to it, so this is a big surprise to me, yeah,” Dayton resident Zander Levin said.
The loaded trucks take the snow to a secluded open lot on the edge of Dayton and Harrison Township.
The snow disposal site is massive, with piles of snow about 10 feet high.
Street crews repeat this process over and over until all of the snow piles are removed.
Miller and Levin said they’re glad street maintenance crews are taking care of these piles.
“Glad they’re doing it, glad they’re taking care of it. A lot of work, someone’s got to do it,” Miller said.
“I really appreciate them working so hard to do this,” Levin said.
