CLINTON COUNTY — An Ohio Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Officer is recovering in the hospital after being shot while investigating a deer poaching complaint in Clinton County Sunday afternoon.
The shooting happened in the area of Macedonia and Martinsville roads south of Wilmington around 4 p.m.
Three people were arrested during the investigation including: Brian Liming, 49, of Xenia; Thomas Davis, 35, of Jamestown; and Brian Achtermann, 36, of Midland.
Liming is being held on a felony weapons charge and two misdemeanors. Both Davis and Achtermann are potentially facing misdemeanor charges.
The wildlife officer, Kevin Behr, a 25-year veteran of ODNR, was flown to a local hospital for treatment of his serious, but non-life threatening injuries. He’s currently in stable condition.
The case will be presented to the Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office for the consideration of any other charges after Clinton County sheriff’s investigators finish their work.
